Computer Based Training
AFS has developed and implemented an interactive Computer Based Training (CBT) program for clients as well as our own staff. We have adapted and utilized this method of training for both AFS-developed in-house programs and for OEM applications.
The advantages of CBT are that the instruction can be accessed at virtually any time, the curriculum is standardized, the training is interactive, the students do not need to be at the same location at a specific time, and updates can be implemented for the entire student population by updating a single file. |
The AFS CBT program allows the text portion to be updated/revised as required without changing the drawing portion of the screen. This allows updates to be accomplished more efficiently and in less time.

Types of Delivery Methods
CD-ROM – Some of the courseware is stored on the hard drive of the platform from which the CBT run, but usually the audio and video files are played from the CD. This will prevent your hard drive from being consumed by one course.
LAN/WAN – (Local Area Network/Wide Area Network) - The courseware is stored on a network server, so that many individuals can access the CBT. A "CD Jukebox" may be configured to the courseware server. This would necessitate having only one set of CD's. The benefit of this approach is that updates to the training must be made to only one copy of the courseware.
Internet/Intranet – Delivery over the Internet/Intranet brings all the benefits of the LAN/WAN delivery mode plus the freedom to run with just the web browser.
